5 Steps Award
Selena Ramsey from the Northern Health and Social Care Trust visited our school to present us with our Level 1 Award in the ‘Take 5 Steps to Well-being in Schools’ initiative. To achieve this award, the school identified opportunities to promote well-being for all those in our school community, both pupils and adults alike.
Using the Five Steps to Well-being – Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Give and Take Notice our school promoted positivity in our interactions and affirmations, sought to make connections with others in our school and wider community, included more physical activity in our school day and used activities to develop mindfulness skills.
St Mary’s is fully committed to playing it’s part in helping those in our school achieve well-being in its fullest sense, both physically and emotionally which is more important than ever in today’s world.
We are currently working towards our Level 2 award which will focus on the development of our school’s outdoor areas. These areas will offer an abundance of opportunities to develop academic, emotional and practical skills for all our children in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
We look forward to keeping you updated on developments throughout the next academic year.
